Disney+ sign-up and cancellation: no free trial, and where you bought it decides everything

Disney+ does not run a free trial, so free-trial codes do not exist. Cancelling takes effect within 3 days or at the end of your term, you keep access until then — but if you subscribed through Apple or Google, Disney cannot cancel it for you.

Two facts up front, because they answer most of what people arrive looking for.

Disney+ does not offer a free trial. Not on any plan, and not on the Disney+, Hulu and ESPN bundle. There is no trial to find, which also means "Disney+ free trial codes" do not exist — anything offering one is selling you something else.

Where you bought your subscription decides how you cancel it. This is the single biggest cause of failed cancellations, and it is covered below.

Signing up

You subscribe on Disney+'s own site or app, or through a third party — Apple, Google, or a partner such as a mobile carrier or TV provider.

Those two routes look identical once you are watching. They behave completely differently when you want to change or cancel anything, so it is worth knowing which one you used. If you cannot remember, check which account the charge appears on.

Disney also runs limited-time promotional offers from time to time. These are discounts on a paid subscription, not trials — you are being charged, just less. Read the renewal terms, because promo pricing ends and the standard rate follows.

Cancelling

If you subscribed directly through Disney+:

Cancel from your account settings. The cancellation takes effect either within 3 days or at the end of your current billing period, depending on your plan and whether you are billed monthly, annually, or sit inside a promotional period.

You keep access until the end of the term you already paid for. Cancelling does not cut you off immediately, and it does not refund the current period.

If you subscribed through Apple, Google, or another partner:

Disney cannot cancel it. You have to cancel through whoever charges you — Apple's subscription settings, Google Play, or the partner's own account area. Cancelling inside the Disney+ app does not stop a charge that Apple or Google is making.

People miss this and get billed again, then contact Disney, who cannot help. Check your billing source first.

Changed your mind?

If you cancelled but the term has not ended yet, you can restart the subscription and continue without interruption. Nothing is lost while you are still inside the paid period.

Refunds

Disney+ issues refunds under certain circumstances, decided case by case through Disney+ Support rather than automatically.

If you subscribed directly and a refund is approved, the amount usually returns to your original payment method within 7–10 business days.

If you subscribed through a third party, the refund is theirs to give, not Disney's.

The honest summary: cancelling is not a refund. It stops the next charge and leaves you watching until the term runs out. If you want money back for a period you already paid for, that is a separate request and it may not be granted.

The things people get wrong

"I cancelled but I still have access." Working as intended — you paid for the term.

"I cancelled but I was charged again." Almost always a third-party subscription cancelled in the wrong place.

"I want the free trial first." There is not one.

"Cancelling will refund me." It will not.

Watch the bundle

Disney+ is also sold as a bundle with Hulu and ESPN. If you are on the bundle, cancelling is a decision about all of it — check what you are actually subscribed to before assuming you are cancelling one service.

We do not stock Disney+. If you want us to, tell us.

Cancellation timing, refund handling and third-party rules come from Disney+'s own help centre, checked on the date at the top of this page. Trial and promotional availability changes by region and over time — Disney's current position is no free trial.
