Can you get Netflix on Nintendo Switch? No — and the Switch streaming list is shrinking

Netflix has never had a Switch app and does not list any Nintendo system as supported. Hulu and Twitch are already gone, and Crunchyroll on Switch shuts down on 30 October 2026.

No. There is no Netflix app for Nintendo Switch, and there never has been.

This is not a regional gap or a coming-soon situation. Netflix's own supported-devices list names PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest headsets. No Nintendo system appears on it at all.

What happened to Netflix and Nintendo

Netflix did run on older Nintendo hardware. It ended:

  • 31 December 2020 — the Netflix app was removed from the eShop on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family.
  • 30 June 2021 — the service on those systems was discontinued entirely.

So the history is the opposite of a rollout. Netflix left Nintendo, and the Switch was never given an app in the first place.

What actually streams on a Switch right now

The list is shorter than most people expect, and it has been getting shorter:

AppStatus
YouTubeAvailable, in every region with a Switch eShop
CrunchyrollAvailable — but shutting down 30 October 2026
HuluGone. Removed from the eShop 6 November 2025, service ended 5 February 2026
TwitchGone. Discontinued 31 January 2024
NetflixNever existed on Switch

If you are reading this after 30 October 2026, YouTube is the only one of these left.

The Crunchyroll deadline is the part worth acting on

Crunchyroll's Switch app is live today and downloadable from the eShop across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Nintendo has confirmed the service ends on 30 October 2026.

That does not affect your Crunchyroll subscription — it keeps working on phones, tablets, browsers, smart TVs and other consoles. It is the Switch app specifically that is going away. If the Switch is your main anime screen, that is the thing to plan around.

We sell Crunchyroll Premium if you want the subscription itself. Buy it for the platforms that are staying, not for the Switch app.

What to do if you want Netflix on a TV you already own

The Switch is not the answer, and no workaround makes it one — there is no browser to load Netflix in, and no sideloading path worth the risk to your account.

Anything else plugged into that TV almost certainly runs Netflix: a PlayStation, an Xbox, the TV's own smart platform, a phone with a cable, or a cheap streaming stick. The stick is usually the cheapest fix and takes one HDMI port.

The short version

  • Netflix on Switch: no, and not planned.
  • Netflix on Wii U or 3DS: removed in 2020, dead since June 2021.
  • Switch streaming today: YouTube, and Crunchyroll until 30 October 2026.
  • After that date: YouTube.

App availability and discontinuation dates above come from Nintendo's own support pages and Netflix's supported-devices list, checked on the date at the top of this page. This list changes often — Hulu, Twitch and now Crunchyroll have all been withdrawn — so re-check before relying on it.
