The renewal is the number that decides what this costs you. Basic at $139.08/year is $11.59/month — not $3.49. The discount is real for the first 27 months and then it is not.
What the tiers actually add
Basic is the VPN. Nothing else.
Complete adds the security suite: anti-malware and browsing protection, monitoring for your email, phone, credit card and national ID, call and message protection, an ad and tracker blocker, a password manager, and 1TB of cloud storage.

Three habits worth having:
- Compare the same billing term. A monthly plan and a 27-month intro rate are not comparable numbers, and most "X% off" claims compare an intro price against the renewal price rather than against a competitor.
- Find the renewal before you buy. It is always disclosed, usually in small type under the price. If a coupon site does not show it, that is the tell.
- Note the savings baseline. NordVPN's own page states the savings are "intro vs. renewal prices" — the discount is against their own later price, not a market rate.
