1. Compare the same billing term. A monthly plan and a 27-month intro rate are not comparable numbers, and most "X% off" claims compare an intro price against the renewal price rather than against a competitor.
2. Find the renewal before you buy. It is always disclosed, usually in small type under the price. If a coupon site does not show it, that is the tell.
3. Note the savings baseline. NordVPN's own page states the savings are "intro vs. renewal prices" — the discount is against their own later price, not a market rate.
