Amazon Music Unlimited Family: 6 people, same country — not same address
Six accounts, six simultaneous listeners, and the only geographic rule is that everyone lives in the same country. That is a meaningfully looser test than Spotify, which verifies your street address.
Amazon Music Unlimited Family gives up to 6 people their own account, and all six can listen at the same time. The rule that matters is where those people live.
The requirements
- Up to 6 family members, each with their own personalized account and recommendations
- 6 simultaneous streams — nobody is knocked off when someone else presses play
- Everyone must be in the same country as the plan
- One Family plan per person — you cannot be a member of two
Note what is not on that list: there is no same-address rule and no address verification. Same country is the test.
Amazon lists the Family plan at $14.99/month on its US help pages after any promotional period.
You can also run multiple profiles under a single account rather than inviting separate accounts — useful if you want split recommendations without giving anyone their own login.
How the invite works
The plan owner sends an invitation link by email or SMS. Each member joins with their own Amazon account, which is what keeps recommendations and libraries separate. You can remove members later and manage the payment method from the same place.
The comparison that actually decides this
All three major music family plans cap at six people. They differ entirely on who counts as family:

Spotify asks each invited member to enter the exact same address, verifies it on activation, and may re-verify later. Fail that check or miss the 7-day re-verification window and the member drops to the free tier.
Amazon and TIDAL ask neither. For a family spread across a city — students who have moved out, a parent at a second address — that difference is the whole decision, and it is not a loophole. It is what the plans say.
Where Amazon is the weaker choice
You need Amazon accounts. Everyone joining needs one, which is friction if they do not already have one.
It is an Amazon subscription. Billing, cancellation and support sit inside Amazon's account system rather than a dedicated music service's, which some people find harder to navigate.
Check what you already pay for. Prime includes a more limited music tier. If your household is on Prime already, work out whether the Unlimited upgrade is buying you something you use.
