Can you share a Crunchyroll account? Device limits, profiles, and the Roku trap
Fan streams on 1 device, Mega Fan on 4, Ultimate Fan on 6 (US only). You get 5 profiles regardless. And if you subscribed through Roku or Android TV, you are stuck on 1 device whatever you paid.
Crunchyroll does not run a Netflix-style household check. What it enforces is simultaneous streams, and the number depends entirely on your tier.
How many people can watch at once

That is the real answer to "how many people can use a Crunchyroll account". Not how many people can log in — how many can press play at the same moment.
If you are on Fan and someone else starts an episode, you get the device streaming limit message. Nothing is banned or locked; you just queue behind each other.
Profiles are separate from streams
Premium members get up to 5 profiles per account. Each keeps its own watchlist and its own progress, so nobody resets anyone else's place in a series.
But profiles do not raise the stream limit. Five profiles on a Fan plan still means one person watching at a time. People conflate these constantly — profiles are about keeping your history clean, not about watching together.
The Roku and Android TV trap
This one costs people money, so read it even if you skip the rest.
If you subscribed to Crunchyroll Premium through Roku or Android TV, only the Fan Plan is available. You are limited to one device at a time regardless of what you thought you were buying, and Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan simply do not appear.
The fix is not a setting. You have to resubscribe through the Crunchyroll website or mobile app to get access to the higher tiers.
If you are paying Mega Fan money and still hitting a one-device limit, check where your subscription was purchased before you contact support about a bug.
If you are hitting the limit unexpectedly
Three things, in order:
- Confirm your actual plan. Not the one you meant to buy — the one billing you.
- Give it a moment after an upgrade. If you have just upgraded, the change can take time to propagate, especially through a service partner like Amazon.
- Check your connected devices and deactivate anything you do not recognise. An old TV or a phone you sold can hold a slot.
So is sharing allowed?
Crunchyroll sells tiers explicitly designed for multiple simultaneous viewers — 4 on Mega Fan, 6 on Ultimate Fan. That is not an accident, and it is a meaningfully different stance from services running household verification.
The practical limit is the stream count, and the practical advice is to buy the tier that matches how many people actually watch at the same time. Two people who watch at different times are fine on Fan. Two people who watch simultaneously are not.
Which tier to buy
- Watch alone, one screen at a time: Fan.
- A couple, or you switch between phone and TV: Mega Fan.
- A household, and you are in the US: Ultimate Fan.
