Does Crunchyroll have a free trial? Yes — 7 days, and here is what it actually covers

Seven days, on both paid tiers, for new and eligible subscribers only. It auto-renews unless you cancel. The real decision is Fan versus Mega Fan, and it comes down to device count.

· Accountslayer

Yes. Crunchyroll runs a 7-day free trial, and you can start it on either paid tier.

Two conditions worth reading before you click:

  • It is for new and eligible subscribers. If you have used a trial on that account before, you will not get another.
  • It automatically renews into the plan you picked when the seven days end. Cancelling is allowed at any time, but nothing cancels it for you.

Set a reminder for day six. That is the entire trick to a free trial.

The tiers, and the one thing that separates them

Both paid tiers give you the same catalogue: the full library, ad-free, with new episodes shortly after they air in Japan, and offline downloads.

Crunchyroll Game VaultNoYes

The difference is device count, plus the Game Vault. If you watch alone on one screen at a time, Fan is the same product for less money. If anyone else uses the account, or you switch between a phone and a TV without closing the first, you need Mega Fan.

There is a third tier — Ultimate Fan, at 6 simultaneous devices — but it is available in the United States only. Benefits differ by tier and by region, so check what your region actually offers before assuming. We cover the full breakdown in Crunchyroll account sharing.

Why there are no prices on this page

Crunchyroll prices in local currency and the figures differ substantially between regions. Quoting a US dollar price here would be wrong for most people reading it, and quoting the price we were shown would be wrong for everyone else.

Open the plan comparison on Crunchyroll's own site — it will show your currency and your region's tiers. That is the only number that applies to you.

Two things that catch people out

The trial tier is the renewal tier. Start the trial on Mega Fan and you renew on Mega Fan. If you only wanted Fan, pick Fan at the start rather than planning to downgrade later.

Region matters more than usual here. Feature availability, not just price, varies by region. The device counts above are what Crunchyroll lists; confirm against your own plan screen.

If you are on a Nintendo Switch

Worth knowing: Crunchyroll's Switch app shuts down on 30 October 2026. The subscription itself is unaffected and keeps working everywhere else — phones, tablets, browsers, smart TVs, other consoles. It is only the Switch app going away. We cover what that leaves on Switch separately.

Buying it from us

We sell Crunchyroll Premium, and a Mega Fan 12-month upgrade that applies to your own account.

If you have not watched anime on Crunchyroll before, take their 7-day trial first — it costs nothing and it tells you whether the catalogue has what you want. Come back to us when you know you want the year.

Trial length, eligibility wording, tier features and device counts read from Crunchyroll's own premium and plan-comparison pages, checked on the date at the top. Crunchyroll changes tier structure and regional availability regularly.
